Format:  Live/Online

Cost:  $250.00 / BIPOC $175.00

Open to:  IFS Level I, IFS Informed, and IFS Curious participants

Description:

“If you put shame in a petri dish, it needs three ingredients to grow exponentially: secrecy, silence, and judgment. If you put the same amount of shame in the petri dish and douse it with empathy, it can’t survive.” – Dr. Brene Brown, Dare to Lead (2018)

Do you often criticize certain “parts” of yourself? Is the word “should” a common part of your daily self talk? In this workshop, Deran and Chris will be discussing the impact of shame and how harsh Critics impact our internal system. We will be exploring how IFS can support the transformation of a shame-based system where “shoulds” and fear are primary motivators and learning ways the IFS model supports growth and Self-leadership. In the above quote by Dr. Brown, shame thrives in isolation and is compounded by our internal Critics (judgment). By discussing this important topic in a community setting, Deran and Chris hope to bring light to a topic with which people often suffer in silence.

In this workshop, while participants of all backgrounds are welcome, our focus will be on centering Black voices and experiences. We will be fostering an environment where Black individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to prioritize their healing and well-being.

Learning Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  • Describe how inner Critics develop
  • Name three key interventions for healing inner Critics
  • Describe the four steps of building shame resilience

Learning Opportunities Include:

  • Didactic lecture
  • Community sharing

  • Q & A session
