We’ll unpack the historical, social, and cultural forces that have shaped misrepresentation, invisibility, and internalized shame in this population.

Meet Your Presenter:
Dr. Wendy Ashley is a licensed clinical social worker, professor, and the Chair of the Social Work Department at California State University, Northridge. With over 25 years of experience as a clinician, educator, and social justice advocate, Dr. Ashley brings a deep commitment to trauma-informed, antiracist, and anti-oppressive approaches in both her therapeutic practice and her teaching.
She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and specializes in work with individuals, couples, families, and organizations. Her approach is rooted in healing, intersectionality, and the belief that meaningful change happens when people are supported in their full humanity. Dr. Ashley is a certified EMDR provider, a Cornell University-certified Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) practitioner, and trained in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) under Dr. Stan Tatkin.
A sought-after speaker, consultant, and thought leader, Dr. Ashley facilitates workshops and trainings across the country focused on antiracism, trauma recovery, and liberatory clinical practice. Her work integrates critical pedagogy with compassionate care, centering validation, vulnerability, connection, and empowerment.
