Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is a body-oriented talk therapy that blends cognitive and emotional approaches, verbal dialogue, and physical interventions to directly address the implicit memories and neurobiological effects of trauma. By using bodily experience as a primary entry point in trauma therapy, rather than the events of the “story,” we attend to how the body is processing information and its interface with emotions and cognitive meaning making.
SPI Level 1 trauma training presents simple, body-oriented interventions for tracking, naming, and safely exploring trauma-related, somatic activation, creating new competencies and restoring a somatic sense of self.
SPI is committed to an active, ongoing process of decolonizing their curriculum and integrating an anti-racist, anti-oppression perspective into their institute and clinical work. Registration is currently open to Black Therapists Rock members only. Registration to the general public will open April 20, 2026. Spaces will fill up fast. Learn more and start your journey here.
