Heal the Healers BTR Book Club Summer 2026 Read

Heal the Healers BTR Book Club has announced the 2026 summer read; Decolonizing Therapy Oppression, Historical Trauma, and Politicizing Your Practice by Jennifer Mullan, PsyD. Our partners, Norton Mental Health, are offering the BTR community (U.S. only) 20% off plus free shipping! This book is the emotional companion and guide to decolonization. It is an invitation for Eurocentrically trained clinicians to acknowledge privileged and oppressed parts while relearning what we thought we knew. Ignoring collective global trauma makes delivering effective therapy impossible; not knowing how to interrogate privilege (as a therapist, client, or both) makes healing elusive; and shying away from understanding how we as professionals may be participating in oppression is irresponsible. Hosted by Black Therapists Rock board members, Dante Brown and Denise Montgomery, the club is a delightful haven for readers of all kinds open to the entire community. Every three months or so, we’ll discover new authors and share perspectives on the information covered. We’ll also have the pleasure of inviting authors to join us for virtual discussions, giving us unique insights into their works. Our mission is to create a welcoming community where everyone can connect, engage, and grow through the magic of reading. Get the zoom link here to join the book club and connect with the community!
